DIY Minecraft Camp: Day 5Welcome to Day 5 of the DIY Minecraft Summer Camp for kids! (Missed Day 4? Click here!) Today we will be learning some more coding, playing some Minecraft (obviously), creating some super yummy Minecraft cookies, enjoying a Minecraft bento box lunch, making LEGO Minecraft creations and playing with Creeper water balloons!

NOTE: Before you begin the lesson, be sure that you have Minecraft installed on your Mac or PC. You will also need to purchase the Learn to Mod Minecraft module. I recommend one copy per camper if you can swing it. If your kids are REALLY good at sharing or you just don’t want to buy more than one copy, have them take turns.

So here we go. Day five of DIY Minecraft Summer camp!

lesson- You decide how long you want your campers working within the Learn to Mod Minecraft module. There is so much to the lesson that it will keep them busy for much longer than one week. I recommend headphones if you have more than one child working at the same time. This lesson from Educents teaches kids how to code using Minecraft. They get to play on private servers and can invite fellow campers and friends to play along with them. No more worrying who the heck your kids are chatting with on Minecraft! I was reluctant to buy TWO copies (one fore each of my boys) but that peace of mind alone made it worth every penny.

free play- Now is the time to put everything they learned during their Learn to Mod Minecraft lesson to the test. Let them play solo or encourage them to team up with other campers or friends on their own private server. Team work is one of my favorite things about Minecraft! I love to see what my kids come up with but just in case they need a little inspiration, have them check out this Pinterest board chock full of insanely awesome Minecraft creations.

snack and craft- Have your campers create these yummy Minecraft frosted cookies that take a little bit of patience and concentration. And don’t worry if they don’t come out perfectly. They will still be super yummy!

lunch time- Prepare to have your mind BLOWN by this insanely creative, yet totally doable Minecraft bento box lunch from BentOnBetterLunches!

activity- Let’s combine two of your favorite things: LEGOs and Minecraft. Maybe you already have a Minecraft LEGO set but even if you don’t, you can still create super cool Minecraft LEGO creations. Check out these YouTube videos from Brick 101 that will let you create all different kinds of Minecraft models with LEGOs you already own!

outside time- Summer is not complete without water balloons! Snag these Minecraft balloons or snag these crazy “Creeper” green “Bunch of Balloons” water balloons that let you fill up 100 in under a minute. They are pre-tied so your kids can fill them up themselves!  If you only have one camper, try water balloon target practice using sidewalk chalk! If you have two or more, go for a good old fashioned water balloon fight OR try water balloon volleyball.
Minecraft Creeper Green Water BalloonsHope you and your campers had the best week ever at DIY Minecraft Camp. Enjoy the rest of your summer! XO, ellie
